5 Friyays – April 24

Welcome to Friday folks! (Checks calendar – double checks) Yes, it is Friday. It’s the end of another week of lockdown. Somehow, even though time seems not to be passing, it’s almost the end of April. I’ve got a few good videos – some happy, some sad, and some good news for my Friyays!

What Are We Missing?

In another attempt to answer this question, our forever hero John Krasinski decided to host a Prom last week for all those kids around the country who are missing their end of year dance. Some Good News makes my week, every week.

Poetry from Ireland

A friend shared this video and I found it so moving, I knew I wanted to share it in my Friyays. It’s a little bit philosophical, and a little bit hopeful. Get the tissue box handy!

One Massive Concert

Over the weekend, Lady Gaga and a whole bunch of friends hosted a virtual concert to raise awareness and funds for Global Citizen and the World Health Organization. Too many artists and performances to mention, but this was one of my favorites. Humans love to dance, we just have to do it safely for a while.

EduHam at Home

More Hamilton content from The Good Doctors. This week Lin-Manuel Miranda announced a program to bring history to the homes of kids around the country through the joy of Hamilton. You can read more about it here, and always more Hamilton for us!

PSA: Tonic Water Can’t Cure COVID-19

Didn’t think I’d have to say this, but there appears to be confusion over whether tonic water can help fight the Coronavirus. Tonic water contains quinine, which was once used to fight malaria. Since hydroxychloroquine has been touted as an (unproven) treatment, it appears that people are buying up tonic water with the hope that quinine will help fight COVID-19. Based on all the questions they were getting, my favorite tonic water company, Fever Tree built their own page with some answers (screenshot above). If I wasn’t afraid of people chugging tonic water with no scientific basis leaving me with nothing to put in my weekend G&T’s, this would be hilarious.
