11 Apr Happy Birthday Blog – Annie Dodge Wauneka
Today The Good Doctors are delighted to celebrate the life and legacy of Annie Dodge Wauneka. Born on this day in 1911 on the Navajo Nation Reservation, Annie was a first advocate and activist for the Navajo people.
She was the second woman elected to the Navajo Nation Council and spent her life working for better health and education on the reservation. In 1963, she became the first Native person to be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
We honor Annie’s work and we celebrate her life.
