As Americans, we are not taught much about Central and South American history. We’re trying to rectify that error through our HBD blogs. Today’s story is of Gabriela Mistral – born on this day in Vicuña, Chile. Gabriela was a poet, educator, diplomat, and humanist. She won the Nobel Prize for Poetry in 1945 and to this day is considered an important symbol to all Central and South Americans.
