20 Apr Happy Birthday Blog – Raden Adjeng Kartini
In our latest blog celebrating badass ladies of history, today we honor the feminist legacy of Raden Adjeng Kartini. Born on April 21, 1879, Raden’s legacy is one that lived on past her short life. She died at 25 from complications of childbirth, but before she passed she opened the first Indonesian primary school for native girls that did not discriminate on the basis of social class.
Her posthumous letters were published and continued her feminist message. To this day, Kartini day is celebrated on her birthday and honors her contribution to the development of girls education and the empowerment of women.
